ADA Now Accepted: Cardano Payments Roll Out Across Hundreds of x402 Platforms

Share

The Cardano Foundation announced the integration of ADA into the open HTTP payment protocol x402, enabling applications and AI agents to pay for API calls in ADA or Cardano Native Tokens. Created by Coinbase and now managed by the Linux Foundation, x402 counts Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, AWS and Coinbase among its members. Transactions are processed without account, API key or checkout page, as any service on x402 can enable Cardano with a simple toggle. The technical implementation was merged into the x402 repository in September 2026, including client, server, facilitator code and working examples. Additionally, Ouroboros Leios developers demonstrated a throughput of approximately 1,000 transactions per second, compared to the current mainnet peak of 4.5 Txk/s.
