According to Future Partners, nearly 44% of Gen Z travelers frequently take spontaneous trips, almost double the cross-generational average of 25.2%, and 62.7% say travel is worth investing in. Experts quoted by Fortune explain this behavior through a shift in perspective: as homeownership, stable employment, and parenthood seem increasingly out of reach, young adults place greater value on immediate experiences and symbolic purchases rather than long-term savings for uncertain goals. Brands like Ralph Lauren (+14% revenue) and Signet Jewelers (strong demand for bracelets, necklaces, and earrings) illustrate this willingness to spend on meaningful purchases despite tight budgets.
