Coinbase Derivatives has filed with the CFTC for approval of dollar-settled, expiration-free perpetual futures contracts linked to individual U.S. stocks and ETFs, extending its domestic perpetual-futures push from equity indexes to single securities. The filing classifies these products as security futures under the joint regulatory framework of the CFTC and SEC. The Wall Street Journal reports that Coinbase plans to launch roughly 50 to 60 contracts, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla and Nvidia, with a launch later this year pending regulatory approval, targeting 24/5 exposure.
