Oracle has committed to 10 wind energy projects across Texas with a combined capacity of over 1.7 gigawatts, equivalent to a large nuclear power plant and sufficient to power more than 525,000 American homes for a year. The investment is designed to supply Oracle’s Abilene data center, one of the company’s flagship AI infrastructure hubs. The projects involve established renewable energy developers including Clearway Energy, RWE, Scout Clean Energy, and ENGIE North America, with ENGIE alone providing up to 568 megawatts. Oracle estimates the projects will avoid approximately 1.8 million metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. The company has set a goal to match 100% of its AI data center electricity consumption with carbon-free energy by 2035.
