Avalanche’s Helicon upgrade, scheduled for September 22 at 15:00 UTC, will reduce the minimum Primary Network validation period from 336 hours to 48 hours, a decrease of nearly 83 percent. The upgrade will also introduce auto-renewal for eligible validators while raising the uptime threshold required to earn rewards from 80 percent to 90 percent for new validation periods. Over a 90-day period, the minimum consumption rate will decline from 10 percent to 7.5 percent, which is expected to reduce the annualized reward rate at the shortest duration by approximately 1.3 percent. Validators using auto-renewal that miss the uptime threshold will not roll into another cycle and must exit the network. Avalanche is up 2.63 percent over the past 24 hours and currently ranks 26th by market cap.
