The French Gendarmerie identified three imprisoned criminals orchestrating kidnappings targeting cryptocurrency holders by using social media and an outside accomplice to coordinate operations. On March 10, three individuals were arrested in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère), only six hours after attempting to break into a cryptocurrency owner’s home in Essonne using explosives. These three suspects, one adult and two minors, were also linked to another armed sequestration case committed in Seine-et-Marne. A fourth person, accomplice of the three masterminds from outside prison, was arrested during a judicial operation in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Searches led to the seizure of incriminating evidence and cash. The suspects face charges of criminal association and armed organized extortion.
