Circle launched the Arc mainnet on Wednesday, its Layer 1 blockchain designed for payments, trading and agentic economic activity. Founding validators include BlackRock, DTCC, ICE, Mastercard, Visa, Standard Chartered and SBI Group. The company minted 10 billion genesis ARC tokens this week without committing to a public launch. The USDC stablecoin, with approximately $74 billion in circulation, serves as the gas token on the network. The testnet processed over 700 million transactions in less than a year.
