Neobank Revolut was hit by a sophisticated attack resulting in a data breach affecting VIP clients, primarily in Switzerland and France. The hackers, who created a website called IAmNotAVillain to expose the incident, are reportedly demanding a potential ransom of 10,000 bitcoins (approximately $780 million), an amount not confirmed by Revolut. The attack, which allegedly lasted six months according to cybersecurity specialists at International Cyber Digest, involved social engineering tactics exploiting fake requests from Italian law enforcement. Among the affected VIP clients are footballer Georges Mikautadze and former CEO of Mt. Gox platform Mark Karpelès. Revolut describes the breach as « limited » and assures that neither the application nor client funds were hacked.
