Wall Street braces for a Monday meltdown – so why is Bitcoin holding near $78,000?

Nasdaq 100 E-mini futures fell 1.72% on Monday morning as chip stocks bore the brunt of selling, with Nvidia down more than 2% and Intel, Marvell, and AMD falling between 5% and 6%. Bitcoin held above $77,000, up 1.39% over 24 hours, showing relative resilience compared to equities. Oil prices also rose sharply, with Brent crude up 3.6% to $108.31 per barrel and WTI up 3.3% to $103.35, adding another layer of pressure on risk assets. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called to pace frontier AI development, a view backed by Elon Musk and Sam Altman, though President Trump downplayed the idea, leaving commercial consequences for technology companies unresolved.
