Singapore Exchange wins CFTC approval to offer crypto perpetual futures to US institutions

Share

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has received authorization from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission to offer its Bitcoin and Ether perpetual futures contracts to American institutional investors. SGX becomes the first major Asian exchange to open its crypto perpetual futures market to US institutional capital. These contracts, launched on November 24, 2025, have already reached $5.8 billion in cumulative volume across approximately 400,000 lots traded. US hedge funds, asset managers, and proprietary trading firms will be able to access this Asian crypto liquidity through their existing clearing members within two to four weeks, with live trading access within one to two months. SGX has deliberately chosen not to accept stablecoins as collateral, opting for a traditional financial framework and positioning itself as a regulated alternative to offshore offerings.
