Yuxiang Zhou, founder of Shanghai-based Black Lake Technologies, a startup supplying AI agents to factories across Asia, pitted an AI sales coach against his company’s most experienced sales leader. Seven out of ten senior salespeople chose the AI’s advice. Zhou equipped his salespeople with a pin that recorded their conversations and location, feeding this data into an AI agent trained to act as a coach. The experiment was presented at the Fortune Leaders Forum in Macau on September 8. Zhou noted that agents remain « emotionless », and sales teams still need human motivation. He also revealed that Black Lake is testing a platform using AI to turn celebrity ideas into manufactured merchandise, cutting the minimum order for custom collectibles from 10,000 to 100 units.
