The announcements from the Zelda 40th anniversary Direct and Wednesday’s showcase disappointed investors hoping for an exclusive title to drive hardware sales. The winter lineup relies heavily on remasters and upgraded Switch 2 Editions, with no new 3D Mario game and no major releases expected until 2027. The Ocarina of Time remake scheduled for November 5 did excite OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who cleared two days on his calendar to play it.
