Germany is set to end the tax exemption on cryptocurrency gains held for more than twelve months. Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil has filed a bill to tax these gains at a flat rate of 25 percent starting in 2028. The new rules will only apply to assets acquired after December 31, 2026, preserving the tax regime for already-held assets.
