Ivory Coast is building its first government-owned data center, backed by a 66 million dollar financing guarantee from the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM). The project, with a total cost of approximately 42 billion West African CFA francs, will be located in the VITIB technology free zone in Grand-Bassam near Abidjan. Construction was over 20% complete by December 2025, with delivery targeted for late 2026 and an operational launch expected in 2027. This financing represents the first data center deal in sub-Saharan Africa funded through EXIM’s China and Transformational Exports Program. Technology partners include Cisco, HPE, Schneider Electric, and the Cybastion Institute of Technology.
