Amazon is preparing to sell pound-denominated bonds for the first time ever, marking a new milestone in the tech giant’s diversifying funding strategy. This issuance brings its total 2026 borrowing to over $80 billion, setting a historic record. The company has already raised 14.5 billion euros in March, 2.82 billion Swiss francs in May, and 14 billion Canadian dollars in June. The funds are earmarked for AI infrastructure spending and Amazon Web Services expansion, with projected annual capital expenditures of approximately $200 billion. This move is part of a multi-currency strategy targeting UK institutional investors, particularly pension funds and insurance companies with structural demand for long-dated, high-quality corporate debt.
