The U.S. military announced Saturday that it struck three Iranian oil tankers after Navy warships, including an aircraft carrier and a destroyer, were targeted with missiles. Two oil-carrying tankers were « permanently disabled » and a third, unladen tanker was destroyed. According to U.S. Central Command, these vessels were part of a shadow network funding Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and its armed proxies in the region. Admiral Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, stated that the United States would not hesitate to destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet if necessary.
