John Ternus takes the helm at Apple, as AI pressure hits

John Ternus has taken over from Tim Cook as Apple’s CEO after fifteen years of leadership. The new CEO inherits a company valued at $4.75 trillion but facing several major challenges: increased competition in artificial intelligence from players like OpenAI, a memory chip shortage threatening its margins, and slowing revenue growth. Recent missteps include the Vision Pro headset, Siri updates, and the controversial Liquid Glass iOS redesign. Apple’s acquisition of Q.ai for nearly $2 billion in January illustrates its efforts to reposition itself. Ternus, whose product design expertise is viewed as crucial, will unveil his roadmap at a major event on September 9.
