DeFi lending protocol More Markets lost approximately $9.3 million on August 31 after attackers exploited a flaw on the Flow EVM blockchain. Attackers drained 15.5 million WFLOW tokens from the mFlowWFLOW reserve by combining Ankr’s bonded liquid staking token (ankrFLOW) with Aave V3’s efficiency mode, allowing them to overborrow far beyond the protocol’s built-in safeguards. Following the attack, More Markets’ total value locked fell to roughly $3.64 million, with the protocol operating with almost no buffer between what it holds and what it owes. More Markets had not released any public statement or offered guidance to affected users. Total DeFi exploit losses in August 2026 reached $139.7 million, making it the third-largest month for hack losses in the year.
