Bitwise CEO Drops Crucial XRP Reality Check as Solana Fund Crosses $1 Billion Threshold

Share

Bitwise’s Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) has reached $1 billion in assets under management just 10 months after launch, driven by a built-in annual yield of approximately 5.8% generated through native staking. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley pointed out that no XRP ETF has yet crossed the $1 billion threshold, a situation directly tied to the XRP Ledger’s lack of native staking, as all tokens were issued upfront and the blockchain cannot generate new tokens to reward stakers. U.S. spot XRP ETFs have collectively accumulated $1.44 billion in net assets with $1.66 billion in cumulative inflows, with Bitwise’s fund leading the segment at $632 million (44% market share). Bitwise’s standalone XRP fund needs approximately $368 million more to reach the coveted $1 billion milestone. Solana’s experience shows that staking-backed products attract capital faster than pure spot exposure, meaning XRP’s ability to cross the billion-dollar mark will depend entirely on long-term institutional investor appetite.
