James Tarkowski, Everton’s newly appointed captain, scored a 90th-minute equalizer against Bournemouth on Saturday, earning his team a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth had taken the lead through Alex Scott in the 40th minute and appeared set for victory for nearly 50 minutes. This match was Everton’s second Premier League fixture of the 2026/27 season. Tarkowski, named club captain in August 2026 succeeding Seamus Coleman, justified his appointment in his first weeks wearing the armband. The 33-year-old central defender joined Everton from Burnley in July 2022.
