Britain’s tax authority HMRC recorded 240 individuals who each declared over one million pounds in cryptoasset gains in the 2024 to 2025 tax year, the first such breakdown ever released. These 240 crypto millionaires reported a combined £717 million, accounting for just over half of all crypto gains declared that year. In total, 17,600 taxpayers made taxable cryptoasset disposals, generating £1.38 billion in taxable profit. Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis measured UK taxable crypto activity at $19.4 billion in 2025, ranking it fourth globally behind the United States, Germany, and China.
