The European Central Bank held all three key interest rates steady at its July 22-23 meeting, voting unanimously for a pause after hiking in June. The deposit facility rate stays at 2.25%, the main refinancing operations rate at 2.40%, and the marginal lending facility rate at 2.65%. Headline inflation fell to 2.8% in June 2026 from 3.2% in May, but remains above the ECB’s 2% target. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are keeping energy markets on edge, and broad money supply growth (M3) came in at 3.4% in July 2026. The ECB emphasized it will not pre-commit to any rate path and that every decision will depend on incoming data, with the next scheduled meeting on September 10, 2026.
