These accusations, referred to the Department of Justice by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, claim that Cook listed two properties as her primary residence at the same time. Her lawyer Abbe Lowell argued that neither act shows intentional wrongdoing or constitutes a crime, and that attempting to fire her would be selective and discriminatory. The Supreme Court blocked Trump’s initial dismissal attempt in June, but left the president with a path to try again.
