The US Treasury launched Operation Economic Outcast, an unprecedented economic campaign against Iran targeting five sectors including digital assets. OFAC can now sanction anyone operating in the Iranian crypto ecosystem anywhere in the world. This marks a departure from the previous doctrine that focused only on identified entities. Nearly 60 entities, individuals and vessels were also designated across multiple jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, China and the UAE. The Rewards for Justice program offers up to $10 million for information on Iranian cyberattackers targeting US critical infrastructure.
