Ethereum proposal would cut 33,800 ETH issuance and break every deployed Altair light client

EIP-8390 is an Ethereum proposal that would remove the 512-validator sync committee, its rewards, and the Altair light-client interfaces. The proposal would reduce annual consensus issuance by roughly 33,800 ETH out of an estimated 1.082 million ETH per year. It would replace the sync committee with off-chain zero-knowledge proofs of finality, but lacks a migration plan, replacement API, and prover incentives. Projects including Helios, Lodestar, Nimbus, and Datachain’s Ethereum IBC client would be impacted as no replacement interface is specified. The draft EIP, which entered the official EIPs repository on Aug. 24, has no activation timeline or Ethereum roadmap commitment.
