Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks go live on Base as onchain equities expand

Coinbase has launched tokenized stocks on its Base network, enabling 24-hour trading of shares in Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet. These products use the B20 standard and are backed one for one by shares held in custody with Alpaca, a regulated custodian supervised under the Abu Dhabi Global Market regulatory framework. Eligible users outside the US can hold these tokens directly in self-custody wallets and integrate them into Base’s DeFi ecosystem. The Aerodrome protocol provides liquidity for trading while Aave supports borrowing and lending against these tokenized assets. Base positions these tokenized stocks as a step toward programmability of equities, similar to that already achieved with cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
