2 Days Left: BNB Chain Set for Heavy Network Upgrades

Share

The BNB Chain community is counting down to the Pasteur hard fork, scheduled for August 25, 2026 at 02:30 AM UTC. This upgrade introduces three major changes grouped under BEP-673: stronger bridge verification (BEP-682), secure validator key rotation (BEP-695), and fuller blocks (BEP-675), with testnet benchmarks showing a capacity of 1,237 to 2,324 TPS. Unlike previous speed-focused upgrades (Fermi and Osaka/Mendel reduced block intervals to 450 ms), Pasteur aims to fully leverage that speed while closing two vulnerabilities allowing validators to retain unwarranted power. Node operators must upgrade to version v1.7.7 before this date, and the upgrade aligns with the H2 2026 objective of doubling mainnet throughput once again.
