Mark Walter faces scrutiny over financial improprieties at insurance companies tied to Guggenheim

Mark Walter, CEO of Guggenheim Partners and owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is under federal investigation for potentially concealing billions of dollars in related-party transactions at insurance companies under his control. Prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, working with the SEC, issued grand jury subpoenas in February 2026, triggering a major revision of investment disclosures. At Delaware Life Insurance Company, affiliated exposure jumped from roughly 3% to 42% of its portfolio after the internal review. Rating agencies S&P Global Ratings and Fitch downgraded their outlook on Delaware Life due to high levels of reclassified exposure. No criminal charges have been filed at this stage.
