Jeff Bezos has spent $234 million acquiring three properties on Indian Creek Island in Miami, yet he still has not secured membership in the Indian Creek Country Club, the ultra-exclusive private club at the heart of this enclave. Other billionaires living on the island, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, have also remained outside the club despite years of effort to build relationships with its members. The club has approximately 350 members, with initiation fees close to $1 million and annual dues of about $44,000. The admission process requires sponsorship from two existing members and recommendation letters from five others, followed by a vote from the board of directors. Some have succeeded in gaining entry: Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon and NFL legend Tom Brady both secured membership after a difficult application process.
