Eight cryptocurrencies are already being used or tested in national digitization programs: XRP (Palau stablecoin and CBDC pilot), Stellar (Ukrainian digital currency), Algorand (Marshall Islands CBDC pilot), Hedera (Reserve Bank of Australia’s Project Acacia), Quant (Bank of England’s tokenized deposits), IOTA (trade and customs in Kenya), XDC (commercial documents in Singapore), and Cardano (Brazil’s government IT modernization). All these cryptos share compatibility with the ISO 20022 financial standard, the global messaging standard adopted by central banks and SWIFT. In Palau, the Palau Stablecoin pilot involved 154 voluntary officials with 68% of users rating the experience as « good » or « excellent ». In Australia, the final Project Acacia report revealed that 8 out of 20 use cases tested resulted in the issuance of $4.4 million in wholesale CBDC, with transactions reaching up to $250,000. XRP trades around $1.31 (+28.7% over seven days), XLM at $0.188 (+17.1%), ADA at $0.21 (+13.6%), and ALGO at $0.09 (+13.7%).
