Ethereum’s next upgrade turns a 2-second block bottleneck into a roughly 9-second window

Ethereum launched Platåberget, a permissionless public testnet for rehearsing the Glamsterdam coordinated upgrade. This upgrade notably includes EIP-7732, which separates consensus block validation from execution payload validation, creating a new system with staked builders and a Payload Timeliness Committee. The largest architectural change expands the roughly two-second critical path: the next proposer gets six seconds to validate a payload, while other validators get nine seconds. Node operators need to test builder onboarding, payload timing, and fork-choice behavior under the new division of duties.
