Arbitrum activated the ArbOS 61 « Elara » upgrade on August 20 at 17:00 UTC across both Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova networks. The upgrade quadruples Stylus contract size limits from 24 KB to 96 KB, enabling developers to deploy substantially more complex applications. The most notable addition is optional protocol-level transaction screening designed exclusively for Orbit chain operators facing regulatory obligations in their jurisdictions. These compliance filters remain disabled by default on the main networks. The upgrade was approved through ArbitrumDAO governance and requires all node operators to run Nitro version 3.11.3 or higher.
