Uniswap founder Hayden Adams tells CFTC that US regulatory pressure pushed crypto builders overseas

Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap Labs, testified at the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee’s inaugural meeting on August 20, warning that US regulatory pressure has pushed crypto founders to set up in friendlier jurisdictions. Appointed to the committee in February 2026, Adams spoke after being targeted by both major US regulators: the SEC issued Uniswap Labs a Wells notice in April 2024, dropped in March 2025, and the CFTC imposed a $175,000 penalty in 2024. The committee remains in its early diagnostic phase and has not yet put forward concrete policy recommendations. The CFTC now faces the challenge of translating industry feedback into actionable proposals to make the US regulatory environment more competitive internationally.
