SK Hynix reached a preliminary agreement on August 20 to pay 60% of its 2026 profit-sharing bonuses in company shares, with the remaining 40% in cash. The average bonus is expected to reach approximately 779 million won ($547,000) per employee, derived from the company’s 10% allocation of annual operating profit. The stock distribution will be staggered: 40% in 2027, followed by 20% in 2028 and 20% in 2029, with no lock-up restrictions on shares. This shift reflects the company’s strategy to balance generous employee rewards with cash management, as SK Hynix benefits from strong demand for its HBM chips used in AI infrastructure.
