Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has begun selling Bitcoin for the first time since 2022, disposing of 3,588 BTC in late June and early July 2026, bringing total year-to-date sales to $218.4 million. The company still holds approximately 840,000 BTC, making it the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder. It has established the Digital Credit Capital Framework, an internal policy authorizing Bitcoin sales of up to $1.25 billion to fund preferred stock dividends and bolster capital reserves. Strategy has also announced stock buyback plans of up to $2 billion. This shift from a treasury that never sells to one with a formal sales framework fundamentally changes Strategy’s role in the Bitcoin market, where it historically acted as a perpetual absorber of supply.
