JPMorgan’s Herr urges Fed to hike rates amid market uncertainty

JPMorgan’s Kay Herr has recommended that the U.S. Federal Reserve quickly raise interest rates to move past the current phase of uncertainty. The effective federal funds rate currently stands between 3.50% and 3.75%, unchanged since July 2026. Markets are pricing in a 28% probability of a rate hike at the September 2026 meeting, with market participants closely watching for signals from the Fed on its future policy guidance.
