American banking giant Citi announced on August 18 the launch of a digital asset custody service by the end of 2026, with Bitcoin as the first supported asset. This offering is part of Citi’s new Custody+ platform and will enable clients to access traditional and crypto custody services within a single integrated framework. The service will operate continuously, 24/7, built on a common digital asset architecture developed by Citi. The group has not specified which other digital assets will be added after Bitcoin.
