Austria’s FMA fines crypto broker Bitpanda $81,000 in first published MiCA penalty

Austria’s financial markets authority (FMA) has fined cryptocurrency platform Bitpanda 70,000 euros. This is the first published penalty under the new European MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation. The authority cited failures related to disclosure obligations in the company’s white paper and marketing communications. Bitpanda, a cryptocurrency broker based in Austria, becomes the first case of enforcement under this recently implemented European regulatory framework.
