BitMart CEO Calls Accusations Fabricated as Users Report Frozen Withdrawals

BitMart CEO Sheldon Lee dismissed accusations circulating on X as fabricated rumors on Monday, hours after a public campaign gave him until August 19 to explain where customer money went. Many users still report blocked withdrawals and former employees say last month’s salaries remain unpaid. A Chinese-language account claiming to be BitMart published a five-point accountability demand seeking disclosure of wallets, assets, liabilities, and usable reserves, along with a repayment plan with a start date and an independent audit. Ethereum withdrawals surged to a 2026 high within days of the notice, while the BMX token crashed 46%. The final trading day is set for August 26 and login access will remain available until January 31, 2027.
