Anthropic is targeting a $2 trillion valuation for its IPO, but the company is currently not generating any net income. According to valuation multiples applied to large-cap Nasdaq 100 companies, the firm would need to post annual profits of $59 billion to $79 billion to justify such a valuation, a level it is far from reaching. For comparison, Amazon, valued at $2.86 trillion, generated $62.6 billion in net income in the second quarter on revenue of $200.6 billion. Projections indicate Anthropic could reach $10.9 billion in revenue in Q2 2026 and post its first operating profit, but operating profit is not the same as net earnings.
