South Korea tightens crypto rules as $367M in stablecoins move offshore

South Korea is tightening crypto restrictions, making it harder for local users to access offshore exchanges. Bybit, MEXC, and HTX have been removed from the local Google Play Store, and transfers exceeding 10 million won (approximately $7,000) now face enhanced monitoring. Gross outbound transfers reached 2.76 trillion won compared with 2.20 trillion won flowing back into domestic platforms. Cumulative net outflows have reached approximately 14.9 trillion won since January 2025, indicating sustained interest in offshore platforms.
