The Ethereum Foundation is abandoning the Poseidon hashing protocol in favor of established alternatives like SHA or BLAKE for its post-quantum architecture. Advances in SNARKs, which are compact proofs, have eliminated Poseidon’s previous performance advantage, allowing conventional hash functions to operate efficiently enough.
