The CFTC announced a meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee on Aug. 20 to examine the regulation of crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets. This initiative comes as the US Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act before the summer recess. The SEC will also hold a similar meeting the following day to discuss new rules tailored to crypto asset offerings. Michael Selig remains the only Senate-confirmed commissioner at the CFTC, and many lawmakers are calling on President Donald Trump to announce additional nominations to complete the agency’s five-member bipartisan panel.
