Greenland Energy Company, a Nasdaq-listed Texas-based firm with ties to the Trump administration, announced a delay to its drilling plans in the Jameson Land Basin on Greenland’s east coast, now targeting winter 2027. The Greenlandic government issued a formal warning to White Flame Energy, a subsidiary of London-listed 80 Mile, for landing drilling equipment near the strategic Nerlerit Inaat airport without the necessary permits. Following the incident, Greenland Energy shares fell more than 44% on Wednesday, while 80 Mile shares declined over 20%. The delays come as Donald Trump has renewed his push to acquire Greenland, with exploration licenses having been granted before the territory stopped issuing new permits in 2021 citing the worsening climate crisis.
