Harmony traces over 10,000 transfers linked to fraudulent tokens after massive exploit

Harmony, the Layer-1 blockchain protocol, identified 10,288 transactions funneling 4 billion fraudulent ONE tokens to 409 distinct wallets, representing approximately 26% of the protocol’s prior supply. The attacker exploited a vulnerability involving empty blocks to mint these tokens without authorization, with roughly 2.8 billion ONE tokens quickly routed to various cryptocurrency exchanges. ONE’s price dropped between 26% and over 50% intraday. Harmony alerted exchange partners, deployed a software patch, and paused its bridge while considering a potential blockchain rollback. For ONE token holders, the immediate financial damage is significant, with uncertainty around a potential rollback adding further risk.
