Polymarket makes moves to get house in order before expected boom times for prediction markets this fall

Prediction market platform Polymarket is strengthening its leadership ahead of a busy fall season, with key hires including Travis VanderZanden as chief growth officer, Megan McGrath as chief compliance officer for the U.S. platform, and Shana Bautista, a former FBI official, as global head of investigations and intelligence. The company faced pressure after a Wall Street Journal investigation accused Polymarket of misleading marketing campaigns, prompting an investigation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Polymarket has restructured its marketing team, updated its promotional partner guidelines, and is now working with consulting firm AlixPartners to monitor content. The NFL season in September and U.S. midterm elections in November are expected to boost trading volumes, after activity declined following the end of the World Cup in July.
