The Trump administration is escalating pressure on Florida oil magnate and Republican Party donor Harry Sargeant III to exit Venezuela. The Treasury Department on Friday froze the assets of his offshore company Bluewave Properties Ltd., based in the British Virgin Islands, citing violations of a 2018 executive order targeting individuals who supported the former Venezuelan government. Bluewave holds a minority stake in North American Blue Energy Partners, the second-largest private oil producer in Venezuela after Chevron Corp. Sargeant, a former US Marine pilot, served as a back channel between Washington and Caracas for years, helping free American hostages held in Venezuela in 2025, but he is now in the White House’s crosshairs.
