UK regulators to prepare tokenized gold framework: Report

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is developing a regulatory framework for tokenized gold and its potential use as collateral assets in wholesale markets. London, the world’s largest over-the-counter gold trading hub, accounts for approximately 70% of global notional gold trading volume. A government-backed industry task force estimated that tokenization could add up to 33 billion British pounds to the UK’s annual economic output by 2035. The roadmap also includes the issuance of the UK’s first tokenized government bond by early 2027.
