Intel Foundry secures Fortinet as its first named corporate client under new CEO

Intel Foundry has secured Fortinet as its first named corporate customer, which will use Intel’s foundry services to produce a next-generation security chip. This partnership represents a significant early win for CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who took the helm in March 2025. The chip will be manufactured on Intel’s 18A node, currently in production, with the 14A node slated for later in the decade. Microsoft has also disclosed plans to develop a custom chip using Intel’s 18A process. Intel’s US-based and European manufacturing footprint gives it a strategic advantage over TSMC in the geopolitically sensitive semiconductor landscape.
