Trump open to blind trust for family’s crypto business, opposes targeted legislation

Donald Trump said he would not oppose placing his family’s cryptocurrency-related businesses into a qualified blind trust, while opposing provisions he views as targeting his specific interests. Family crypto earnings proved substantial: in 2025, Trump reportedly made between $500 million and $635 million from World Liberty Financial, while meme coin licensing generated over $600 million, bringing total family crypto-related income to more than $1.4 billion. The CLARITY Act, currently under debate in the Senate, contains strict ethics requirements that Democrats want to impose on officials holding significant digital assets. The ethics provisions in the bill may expire in 2029, before the end of a potential second Trump term.
